Adetola Oluwadarasimi - Therapist

My name is Adetola Oluwadarasimi and this is my experience with OIF

My time as an occupational therapist with the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation was both fulfilling and deeply meaningful. At the heart of our mission was the provision of free mobility devices to individuals living with physical disabilities, alongside the distribution of Bibles to continue the message of Jesus Christ, which resonated with me deeply.

Each day, I conducted assessments to determine the most suitable mobility devices for our participants, ranging from wheelchairs to crutches. This process allowed me to tailor our support to their specific needs, ensuring they could navigate their daily lives with greater independence and comfort.

What truly made this experience unforgettable was the opportunity to connect with our participants on a personal level. Hearing their stories of resilience and courage touched my heart in profound ways. Whether in Lagos State or Delta State, each encounter left a lasting impression on me.

Delta State, in particular, stirred strong emotions within me. Witnessing individuals living with physical disabilities without access to therapists was heart-wrenching. Yet, through our efforts with the foundation, we were able to bring smiles to their faces and provide them with the support they desperately needed.

Working with the foundation felt like being part of a close-knit family. The camaraderie among team members made every task feel like a shared mission. It was a privilege to work alongside such dedicated individuals united by a common goal.

Reflecting on this experience fills me with gratitude and a sense of purpose. The relationships formed, the challenges overcome, and the lives touched have left an indelible mark on me. I am eager to continue this journey of compassion and faith, knowing that each opportunity to serve brings light and hope to those in need.

My name is Faith Abu, an Occupational Therapist: MY LAGOS AND DELTA STATE EXPERIENCE

Making me fully available for this program was a great decision, although it was a bit tasking but every part of it was worth it, because knowing I was going to put smile on people faces gave me the courage.

For the number of days used in Lagos and Delta State during this program ,different patient with different severity of conditions were attended to ,hearing the stories of the affect individuals were touching and to crown it ,the excitement and happiness they all left with after achieving their aim was awesome, some couldn’t contain their Joy because they have been praying for such miracle to come and indeed God granted their desires ,I was glad that my profession played a huge role in the program, I was able to communicate ,interact ,advice and encourage as many I came across in the best way they could understand, this program serves as an eye opener for me .Each passing day was an awesome experience.

The love, unity, teamwork shared among we team members was something that was divine from God, because it made the work easier, stress free, fast, and achievable

Also thanks to OlFN for making everyday enjoyable in-terms of accommodation, hospitality, comfort, socialization, connectivity etc. I pray that God will replenish and increases you in multiple folds and give you the grace to continue with this good work (Amen).

I will do this with OIFN over and over again.

I want to appreciate God Almighty for the success of the program, for making everything possible and easy for us, for security, protection, journey mercies, provision and in every other ways He saw us through. Thank You Lord.

Being a part of the therapists at the recently concluded OIFN wheelchair distribution in Lagos is one of the best program I’ve engage in this year.

Its a great thing to communicate, interact, assess and distribute walking aids to people with special needs.

The activities were fun, motivating and I also learnt a lot about wheelchair, its measurement and how it can perfectly fit for an individual.

I feel encourage to do more of these in the future as this serve as an avenue for me to improve in experience in my professional competence.

My name is Dobra Awobokun I am a businesswoman who love to give to people. I am a volunteer with Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation Nigeria.

I am so privileged to be amongst the team that made an impact on people live via the distribution and the program gave me another insight to life itself. I appreciate and love people with the slightest disability now. My decision was actually inspired by Tarela Aghanti the founder of the foundation and am grateful for it.

The opening programme gave me the assurance that I have made the right decision to be part of the programme and the confidence as the admin person who handled everything from the administration work and ensuring the therapists and volunteers were okay. As well as making sure the beneficiaries were attended to and managing  logistics. Thou it was stressful but I enjoyed every bit of the process, the joy on the faces of the beneficiaries made me look forward to the next day. My standout highlight was when visited Modupe Cole Orphanage the love and care we showered on the children brought out a feeling I can’t explain immediately I decided to visit them again on my own really.

I thought that was the height of my experience until we got to Delta state the beneficiaries were awesome, grateful, loving and that sparked a flurry of emotions in me.

The teamwork was amazing, the love and understanding amongst all members, from the founder to the therapists and the volunteers knew no bond. I can’t wait to be a part of this team again and again all I can say is my experience with OIFN was awesome. Thank you to OIFN for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this beautiful distribution, thank you to the sponsors THROUGH THE ROOF, WHEELS FOR THE WORLD, BETANY CHURCH and every other sponsors, God will continue to bless and enrich your different foundations to keep touching lives.

Yes am now thanking God Almighty for making all this work out for the success of Wheels Distribution 2024.
